Owner of The Haven

After completing her BSc degree in Sociology at the London School of Economics Fiona trained at the Bartholomew's School of Nursing in Smithfield, London. She gained experience a range of hospital settings, specifically acute admissions at Barts and spinal injuries at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore.

Fiona then moved into health visiting, qualifying at the Polytechnic of North London. Health visiting is the only field in nursing that is solely concerned with disease prevention, health promotion and community health.

Whilst working as a Health Visitor, in 1991, Fiona began her journey in the Complementary health field, triggered by a sense that 'hands-on touch' is crucial for human development and health.

During the early 90's she trained and qualified in: Holistic Massage; Aromatherapy; Reflexology; Soft Tissue Manipulation and Manual Lymphatic Drainage. She made the transition from Health Visiting to working as an independent Therapist by undertaking a Masters Degree in Therapeutic Bodywork at the University of Westminster, where she consolidated and built on her existing skills.

Concurrently she qualified in Craniosacral Therapy from the Karuna Institute (London Training, 1995). This enabled her to work at a more subtle yet deep level with clients - in fact listening to the body's story unfold.

From 1997 onwards Fiona was employed as a Massage and Aromatherapist at the Mildmay Mission Hospital in London's East End, treating patients with HIV and Aids, a profound learning experience.

As a direct result of her experiences and training in Complementary health, Fiona was able to have a drug-free, gentle and beautiful home birth, with her first daughter at the age of 40.

In February 2002 Fiona was able to realise her long held ambition of opening her own Therapy Centre, The Haven. Its her unique approach includes putting clients needs first, offering an integrated range of therapies by a dedicated, professional, in-house team of experienced Practitioners and meeting people at their own level being.

At the heart of The Haven is the belief that the key to change / healing is in honouring and encouraging the individual's own inner knowledge / resources, and having the trust and courage to work in partnership.

"I am passionate about quality in every aspect of life, and working in partnership with people to assist them in finding their own path and taking back responsibility for their health".
Since founding The Haven Fiona she has continued to learn and grow and has also undertaking further training in Iridology and Colour Light Therapy.
