Guidance Sessions

Do you have a health issue? Would you like to receive help but feel unsure about the way forward?

The Haven offers a confidential guidance session to enable you to make informed choices that can lead to a healthy, active and fulfilled life. Both adults and children can benefit from guidance whether or not they are receiving conventional medical care or medication.

The Haven is an ethical business and has based its reputation on being customer focused. We see our task as providing appropriate, easily available and understood information and treatment to enable you to achieve a healthier life. This may mean making some dietary and lifestyle changes or dealing with an underlying emotional issue, with help. You may be referred to see one or more Practitioner within the Centre. Each person's therapy plan or recommendations will be unique to their individual circumstances.

Clients have found the guidance sessions extremely beneficial, offering the space and time to be listened to by a neutral person in a non-judgemental way. They are able to clarify their health needs and concerns and find the direction and support so necessary with the demands of urban and family life.

Who Will I See And What Will Happen?

Guidance Sessions are conducted by Fiona Fidler a qualified Nurse and Health Visitor, who also holds dual qualifications in a wide range of bodywork and complementary therapies and has been in practice for over fifteen years.

During a consultation you will be able to focus on you particular health issue in depth. You may be asked many questions regarding your previous medical history, family history and life circumstances. The session is confidential, so that you may speak freely about yourself. It is by listening to your needs and concerns that Fiona can use her experience to address them, and provide you with the information and advice on the most suitable course of action and therapy recommendations.

You will be asked to bring along details of any medication you are taking, test results or on-going investigations that may be relevant.

An Iridology eye examination is also offered during the Guidance Session and can provide extremely useful insights into the health history and potential of an individual. The examination is painless and non-invasive, involving the use of a magnifying torch to illuminate the coloured part of the eye (Iris). From its shape, colour and texture detailed and accurate information can be gathered, which offers sign posts for the individual's way forward. If physical examination is required, you will not be left undressed at any stage without covering.

How Long Will it Take?

It can take up to two hours. Occasionally there is the need for another follow up session to cover all the things a client may be concerned about and a further session will be arranged.

How Will a Session Help Me?

Clients have found Guidance Sessions get to the heart of health issues, pinpoint problems and explain what might be involved in possible solutions. There is often more than one 'road to go' in terms of the therapies available and the opportunity to talk with an experienced practitioner to weigh the pros and cons of a particular approach to a health issue is invaluable before treatment commences.

People come to The Haven seeking guidance for many different reasons. Some people have short terms aims, for example to recover from an operation or whip-lash injury. Others may have more complex or chronic problems that require a longer term perspective and continue to come in order to maintain their quality of life and sense of well-being. In each case a personalised plan of therapeutic action is recommended. This may include a therapy or therapies, additional treatments and self-care such as nutrition, body care or relaxation, yoga or meditation.

At The Haven our task is to really focus with you on 'where you are' in terms of cycles of health and what commitment to change is realistic for you to make at present. With the necessary information, together we can begin to load the dice for a more favourable health outcome, making the best use of resources available, personal and professional.

Our past successes have included supporting mothers-to-be suffering difficult pregnancies, help in weight management, transforming toddler tantrums, supporting terminally ill people and achieved impressive results with infertility problems and irritable bowel syndrome.
